Warsaw, the capital of Poland, has recently witnessed the grand opening of one of the world’s largest and most modern museums, the “Polish History Museum.” Housed in a striking modernist-brutalist building spanning six floors, this architectural masterpiece also boasts an observation deck on its roof, offering visitors a breathtaking panorama of Warsaw.

The current centerpiece of the museum is a temporary exhibition titled “Great and Small Stories: Creating the Polish History Museum Collection.” This exhibition delves into the rich tapestry of artifacts that make up the museum’s holdings, exploring archaeological discoveries, the recovery of stolen monuments, works of art and craftsmanship, as well as everyday objects. However, it is important to note that the museum is still in the process of developing its permanent exhibition, which will narrate the history of the Polish state. This permanent exhibition is a work in progress, with approximately 3,600 items planned for display, creating a diverse and immersive experience for visitors. The exhibit will incorporate original artifacts, cutting-edge multimedia, intricate scenography, and thought-provoking artistic installations.

To guide visitors through Poland’s complex history, the museum has organized the tour path into six distinct eras: Piast and Jagiellonian Poland, the Old Republic of Poland, the Period of Partition, Independence, the Struggle for Freedom, and the Polish experience during the Communist era. This exhibition is set to run until March 2024, offering a unique opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of Poland.
